Life Essentials - Water, Money and Energy

Toastmaster for the evening, Paul set the scene with a warm welcome and his trademark humour. Adding more interest to the meeting ahead, Layeequlla as Grammarian provided a new terminology for us to practise; "lollygag".

Carol presented a Christmas themed Table Topics session. A wide variety of topics and styles provided an entertaining warm-up for the meeting.

Peter B introduced Bill who captivated the audience with his explanation of how stored energy sources are developing and how energy use could change dramatically, giving hope for climate change reversal.

A presentation by Craig was introduced by Ian. Craig gave a very well illustrated speech about the state of the Governments' Superannuation scheme and the possible dire consequences for the next generation – there may not be any money left!

Sarah introduced Jane who delivered the third and final speech this evening. Water was her topic and she hit hard at the vulnerability of our water supplies which we have taken for granted all our lives. Things have changed and the time has come to take action. This was also a very well illustrated presentation with an unforgettable demonstration to support it.

High quality evaluations were delivered by Christine and Kelly (Table Topics), Peter B, Ian and Sarah.

A professionally presented educational session on "Giving Feedback" was given by Steve who found a creative way of getting the audiences attention and then kept them alert by involving them in the discussion.

Awards for the evening were presented to:
Jane – Best Speech
Sarah – Best Evaluation
Daniel – Best Table Topics Speech
Carol – Best Contribution
