Ian introduced James in a very competent manner. Not only did he spell out the speech objectives in a clear and concise manner, but he also gave some personal background - in this case - James just happens to be a very good cyclist who obviously thrives on competition.
The speech itself clearly showed how well visual aids can be used to highlight a most eventful time spent by James in both Fiji and Tonga.
Ian's evaluation praised James for speech structure, speaking style, use of humour, relevance of visuals and word pictures. His suggestions for improvement included use of vocal variety, more drama and eye contact with audience.
The standard of James presentation and Ian's evaluation was very high. Well done both of you.
Table topics with Fiona certainly kept participants on their toes. The two stage approach required by those taking part evoked some very interesting answers. Kate, James, Christine, Ashley, Emma and Craig rose to the occasion as did Steve our evaluator.
Steve showed that he had not only been listening by giving words of encouragement but also provided all those taken part with something to help them in the future. Well done Steve.
Our Toastmaster of the night Peter showed enthusiasm for his task. He kept the meeting moving along nicely and also made the effort of sitting among the audience while people were making presentations. Peter showed by example how a chairperson should undertake their role.
Our Grammarian Kate accepted her role at very short notice (along with the actual word of the night, which was 'spasmodic'). Her report was thorough and would be of great benefit to everyone. Congratulations Kate.
Ashley (Timekeeper) showed the benefit of being in the same role at our previous meeting. Thank you Ashley.
Craig gave an educational from Moments of Truth. This was part two from a meeting held four weeks ago and raised some very interesting responses. Craig said that much of what had been said would be raised by the executive. A thought provoking session and very much appreciated. We are fortunate that Craig chose to address this very important issue. Well done Craig.

Lastly, Steve and Christine recounted their trip to this year's Toastmasters district conference in Invercargill. Words of congratulations were given out to the respective winners, along with repeating to the audience the ideas delivered by the respective keynote speakers.
