TALL TALES (and some true!!)

Napier Toastmasters had their last meeting of the year last night (6th December) a week earlier than usual as the Hall was unavailable next week.

The evening was to be a 'fun night' and it certainly turned out that way. We held a 'fun' Tall Tales contest during which members tell a brief story (2-4 minutes) and the audience has to decide if the story was true or false. Some wild tales were related and surprisingly enough most of them were true (does this mean that we are not good liars or lack imagination??).

12 members and 3 guests (by invitation) took part in the contest, which included humour, imagination, exaggeration, and many great tales of joy (and woe), to my mind the best was Tony who told us a tale about a very fast sheep dog who when rounding up some sheep in the high country ran into a post and split himself in half, the shepherd quickly stuck him together again but unfortunately put one side upside down, which was great when the dog got tired of running on two legs as it just rolled over and carried on, on the other two!!!

True or false?? -you be the Judge! and that just a sample of what we heard.

Those that did not partake in the contest and we had around 20 people attend, were then given a Table Topic to answer, which they did efficiently to round out the official part of the program and we then enjoyed some Christmas Cheer with refreshments and members bringing a plate.

Well done to Ian (our V/P Education) for organising the evening and kudos to everyone who attended and took part making it a great way to end the year.

Our next meeting is a BBQ at a member's residence on 24th January and the first meeting at Greenmedows Community Centre will be 14th February followed by our International Speech and Evaluation Contests to be held on 28th February. Come along and bring a friend, the Club is growing with several new members over the past couple of months, so its a great time for more new members to join our happy band!

Meanwhile have a great Christmas everyone and we know that 2022 is going to be an excellent year!
