Our meeting on the 13th July saw one of our newer speakers Jen presenting her final speech at Level 1 alongside 2 of our more experienced Toastmasters in 3 prepared speeches of the night.
It was a meeting with a difference with 2 of our speakers presenting speeches "to a difficult audience" (Level 4 Pathways) and so behind the scenes there was guidance given to members of the TM club to interrupt and challenge and be generally difficult (gosh we are mean), which must have been quite the experience for our 2 guests and also our brand new Toastmaster Paulo in the audience.
Reassurance has been given that we do not generally behave in this way or tolerate interruptions of this nature!
Our Toastmaster of the evening Brenda did a fabulous job at making everyone feel really welcome. We knew what we could expect from the evening and she certainly led the excitement for us.
One thing that really struck me at our meeting was the Quality of the Evaluators we have in the club. Some great listening skills and provision of feedback directly targeted at the individuals goals and aims for their projects. The CRC Model that we use at Toastmasters was clearly followed and I believe that the entire club would have enjoyed and benefitted from the feedback provided by Jane, Roz and Tony, along with our Table Topics evaluators Peter and Steve.
Craig ran an entertaining and fast paced table topics giving lots of Toastmasters opportunity to get up and talk – something we all love to do!
Your new committee has been sworn in and is looking forward to leading Napier Toastmasters to another successful and fun year.
Best Speech of the night was Ian, best evaluator Roz and best Table Topics was Steve.
Can’t wait to see you all next Meeting.
That was a great meeting. Thank you all for your warm welcome.
