Peter organised a very interactive programme that held our attention all the way through.
Starting with Succession Planning, Ian W. from Hastings Club got us discussing and thinking about what to do to find out who is interested in officer roles. Shoulder tapping is a good way to approach likely candidates, along with offering assistance to get new officers up to speed once they are voted in. Early planning is necessary for the effective handover of roles.
Ian W. - Find successors to fill club officer roles |
Paul B. - Annual General Meetings |
Peter covered the various elements of the Moments of Truth. We all worked through a checklist/survey to gauge how we thought our clubs were doing and to reveal areas we needed to work on.
After a generous break for tea and coffee, it was Craig's (Treasurer - Napier Club) turn to explain the Moments of Truth on more detail. More specifically he covered what it is, how as an executive and club we can use it.
Breakout sessions followed to discuss various elements of the Moments of Truth lead by Napier Club members:
- Graeme V. - First Impressions & Fellowship, Variety and Communication
- Steve T. - Membership Orientation and Achievement Recognition
- Chris H. - Programme Planning and Meeting Organisation
- Ian W. - Membership Strength
Thank you to Peter C. for organising a great educational event, all those who facilitated the various sessions, James, Craig and Graeme for the tea, coffee and cakes (as noted by the women who attended the meeting). And what a great venue if I do say so myself.
An excellent evening, well run and Educational, I felt it was one of the better Club Leadership Trainings I have attended, and I have attended a few!!
