In Between Meetings

With a longer than usual gap between regular club meetings, we have had more meetings. The club executive attended leadership training on Friday the 26th of July, followed by our Club Awards Dinner on Monday the 29th of July.


Leadership Training

The leadership training was run by our Area Governor, Ian Wright (from Hastings Toastmasters). All of Napier Club's executive members were in attendance, which means more points for our Distinguished Club Programme!

One of the key messages from the training was:
"Great club meetings make successful clubs, and key to making this happen is variety, fun, time limits and speeches (from manuals)."

Awards Dinner

It was great to see members and their families attending the Awards Dinner on Monday evening. Congratulations to:
  • Paul McPherson - Long Service Award - 25 years
  • Sarah Hall - Outstanding Toastmaster 2012/2013
  • Sarah Lee - Best Speaker 2012/2013
  • Graeme Valentine - Best Evaluator 2012/2013 (shared award)
  • Steve Tutbury - Best Evaluator 2012/2013 (shared award)
  • Amy Edwards - Best Table Topic
  • Sarah Lee - Most Improved
  • Amy Edwards - Most Humorous
Amy was also presented with the Spirit of Success Award for completing the first five speeches from the Competent Communicator manual.
