The right word at the right moment

Greetings everyone!

A small turnout last night due to numerous last minute apologies, but still a great night with many moments of entertainment and laughter.  Thanks to everyone that came along and participated in another educational and fun meeting.
Sheryl was our Toastmaster for the evening and what a fantastic job she did.  I thought the agenda looked extremely professional.  Sheryl did an amazing job of juggling roles due to last minute cancellations, well done Sheryl!

The General Evaluator for the night was Chris Heath and he gave a very useful and detailed report at the end of the evening - the first report I've seen presented from iPad notes!  He was ably assisted by our 'sagacious' Grammarian Craig, and our President Colin who stepped into the Timekeeper's role at the last minute.

Lucy ran a fun Table Topics session based around 'demanding salespeople' - a creative concept Lucy and all respondents appeared at ease answering the topics which is indicative of a well-chosen theme.  James K and Sarah evaluated the Table Topics session - not too onerous a job for them as there were only 4 speakers to evaluate.  I believe it was James' first time evaluating Table Topics and he did a great job.

Peter was our first formal speaker for the evening, with 'Right Word, Right Time'.  An inspirational and thought-provoking speech that encouraged us all to think carefully before we allow words to escape our mouths.

Jan was our second speaker for the night with 'Be Prepared'.  An inspirational personal testimony Jan, and very well presented - well done!

Raj Rathour (a guest speaker from Magpie Club) presented a powerpoint presentation '17 days in India'.  A work-themed speech that Raj was due to present at his workplace the following day, it was interesting and colourful and I just loved the vivid photos of India presented throughout the speech.  Here's hoping you get your 20 participants  for September Raj!

The three speeches were very well evaluated by Emily, Graeme and David respectively.

Sarah presented an Education Session about the Club Officer Elections approaching at the next meeting.  Please everyone give due consideration to volunteering for a club officer role at the next meeting, you will get a lot out of it and it's great to be able to serve your club in that way.  I've personally found it a very rewarding experience being on the Executive Committee.

Awards for the night:
Best Speaker: Jan Alve
Best Table Topics: Craig Robinson and Chris Heath
Best Evaluator: Graeme Valentine
Best Contribution of the Night: Craig Robinson for his extreme helpfulness in all matters all the time!!

Look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting on Monday 14 May.

Regards,
Sarah Hall
