Welcome fellow Toastmasters and visitors to this site!
We experienced an entertaining and informative TM meeting last night with lots of laughs. A special welcome to our guest Jeannette, great to have you along Jeannette! Also great to have Jan R back to assist with judging. Adrienne was our very capable meeting chair last night and what a great job she did.
The meeting began with the International Speech Contest chaired by Sarah. We had 5 participants - Ian, David, Danny, Peter and James W. A hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Danny (1st place) and Peter (2nd place). Many thanks to our judges and timekeeper Christine also who stepped in at the last minute. For this she won the Contribution of the Night - thanks Christine!
Graeme was our General Evaluator and what a thorough and useful evaluation he gave at the end of the meeting. He was ably assisted by Lucy (the 'epitome' of a grammarian) and timekeepers Christine and Rob.
We were treated to two delightful speeches last night. Jan presented her Icebreaker speech - 'From gumboots to stilettos' and it was great to learn more about you Jan! Good job. One of our most experienced toastmasters, Steve, regalled us with a dramatic story 'Diamond Cut Diamond', well done Steve. You had the audience captured! The speeches were evaluated extremely well by Craig and Chris respectively.
Peter led an informative Education Session on the Evaluation Contest to be held at our next meeting. Remember, all members can participate! That means YOU! Colin ran a well-structured business session and although we finished later than scheduled, I felt it was worth it for the entertainment provided!
Look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting, same time, same place, 12 March.
Cheers,
Sarah Hall

Let's not overlook James used the contest as an opportunity to present his Icebreaker describing how another lad from Gisborne finds himself in Napier. he was very competent.
