Last night's meeting was yet another in the long line of interesting, educational and entertaining meetings that this Club has become renown for! There was still an excellent turnout on a rather chilly night. It was great to see a couple of guests there.
The meeting was well run by Toastmaster Laurence, who had arranged a very interesting and varied programme which he pulled together well during the evening with some very appropriate quotes to connect items. His approach was really professional and assisted the positive outcome of the meeting.
Christine gave us a different slant on Table Topics, and achieved the purpose of this session extremely well- great to see our two guests have a go- and present excellent attempts on their respective topics. The Table Topics were well evaluated by Millie & Diane, who gave good feedback to the Speakers.
We certainly had a good variety of Prepared Speeches, all well researched and presented. Colin entertained with his presentation "Disappointed" (that's not what we were!) all about his search for the Loch Ness monster- plenty of movement, visuals, vocal variety and disappointment.
Adrienne's presentation was 'painful' (no! not the actual speech or presentation style -but the subject) it was the Abstract Concept assignment and her Title "What is to Happen?" gave us no inkling into the subject which was on PAIN. Very well done in the short time available and from a non-medical background (I think even I understood it!) Good use of visuals to get the message across.
Next up was David with a speech about YEAST,the objectives of which were to Organise. I felt that this was an excellent presentation by David
The night was then capped off by Sarah with a Dramatic Talk from the Entertaining Speaker Manual. Sarah has not given many speeches this year of her Presidency (as I was instructed!) and this was a beauty. A simple subject, very well presented in a dramatic style and with excellent use of pause and suspense, let's hope as incoming V/P Education she allots herself more speaking time!!
The Speech evaluations by Peter, Nick, Chris and Graeme were of the continuing high standard of Evaluations within this Club, an excellent effort by all of them. Sheryl kept great time during the meeting and Steve kept us guessing with another twist on Grammarian.(this was Steve's last assignment to earn a Competent Leader Award- congratulations Steve! Craig completed the evening with his General Evaluation.
